ABOUT US
Canley Vale Tutorial Centre is a faculty of Fairvale High School that caters for students experiencing emotional and/or behavioural difficulties that impact on their ability to learn in a mainstream school environment. The Centre supports up to twenty one students in Years 9 and 10. Students use their time at the Centre to address their educational needs in an attempt to re-engage with their education or look at future options in the workplace.
WELFARE OBJECTIVES
Canley Vale Tutorial Centre is a proactive special needs setting that engages a whole school system for managing behaviour, developing social skills and resilience.
Students with behavioural difficulties are encouraged to achieve key behavioural competencies and to make good choices through a positive, welcoming and educational environment. The aim for many of these students is to re-enter their home school through a collaborative transition program.
Students experiencing emotional difficulties have an opportunity to develop their knowledge and resilience skills through programs designed to support the holistic needs of the student. This includes social and living skills, together with the development of academic outcomes across all key learning areas with a particular emphasis on literacy and numeracy.

UPCOMING EVENTS
Our Centre aims to assist students to develop their social skills through a positive rewards program. This program serves as both an opportunity for life experiences as well as a motivational goal for students to work towards. Future events for students who have been deemed eligible include:
- CVTC has spoken to the students and it was decided in late 2015 that we would trial a new uniform in 2016. The students had input on colour and design and the new CVTC polo was introduced in Term 1 2016. It has been a resounding success with many staff also getting a staff polo to match.
- It has been decided that we prefer the inclusive nature of the polo as well as how it looks (and how easily we can keep it clean). A hoodie should be coming in Winter.
- A big congratulations to two students who recently competed at the Fairvale High School Swimming Carnival. Chelsey Moore and Dean Back both did exceptionally well in their chosen events; Chelsey even qualified for Zone in her freestyle event.
