Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) is a compulsory part of Year 7 -10 and contributes significantly to the cognitive, social, emotional, physical and spiritual development of students. It provides opportunities for students to learn about, and practise ways of, adopting and maintaining a healthy, productive and active life. It also involves students learning through movement experiences that are both challenging and enjoyable, and improving their capacity to move with skill and confidence in a variety of contexts. It promotes the value of physical activity in their lives.
The PDHPE program at Fairvale High School is inclusive and sensitive to cultural diversity and aims to provide equal and valuable experiences to all students. We offer two junior elective programs – Physical Activity and Sports Studies (Outdoor Education) and Physical activity and Sports Studies (Original). Both cater for a wide variety of student interest and are extremely popular. Students studying PASS Outdoor Education are automatically enrolled in the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. Successful completion of the course will result in a minimum of a Bronze Award. During the senior years we offer 2 Unit PDHPE and Sport, Lifestyle and Recreation. In previous years our students have achieved some outstanding HSC results.
