Every year on the 21st of March is Harmony Day. The message for 2017 was “Everyone belongs”. It is a recognition of diversity and belonging for anyone that calls Australia ‘home’.
To celebrate Harmony Day at Fairvale High, every student was given an orange ribbon at roll call, to symbolise their recognition of the day.
The SRC also created three photo frames, adorned with the message “Everyone Belongs,” which was dispersed among students during lunch to take photographs in, promoting the spirit of belonging and inclusiveness. A basketball game was also held at lunch in the COLA, with the students and teachers playing for their respective sporting houses. After two intense matches, Greenway and Florey were triumphant.
True to the Harmony Day’s spirit, many students participated in the games or got their photos taken in the frames. It was a day to highlight the diversity we have at Fairvale, with the message “Everyone belongs”.
